WI Pyramid Model
Pyramid Model: Encouraging Positive Behavior & Family Lending Library
Partnering with families to support children’s social–emotional growth at school and at home.
Encouraging Positive Behavior
At school, we intentionally teach and recognize the behaviors expected of students. When children are acknowledged for doing something well, they are more likely to continue those positive behaviors.
- When we notice a student being Safe, Respectful, and/or Responsible, we give them a Bucket Filler sticker. Please praise your child and ask what they did to earn it—it helps reinforce those choices at home.
- If the entire class demonstrates these behaviors, they earn a token in their class jar. When the jar is filled, the class celebrates with a special reward—like pajama day, movie day, or fun socks day!
We hope that by sharing this system, families can encourage these positive behaviors wherever children go—at home, in stores, or when visiting family and friends.
No-cost recognition ideas you can use at home
- Let your child choose between a few dinner options.
- Allow them to pick the music in the car.
- Play a favorite family game of their choice.
- Enjoy one-on-one time together (like a walk or reading time).
- Stay up a few minutes later to read a favorite book or two.
All children want to please the adults who care about them. Together, we can recognize and celebrate their efforts to help them grow in their social and emotional development. Thank you for partnering with us to build positive, caring learners!
Lending Library for Families
Our lending library supports families with carefully selected children’s books that nurture social–emotional development. Reading together is a wonderful way to spend quality time and to start meaningful conversations about topics that can be tough to discuss.
At any point during the year, if there’s a topic you’d like to explore with your child, complete the request form and we’ll gather books for you based on your selections. We can send them home in your child’s folder or arrange a pickup time. When finished (after any number of re-reads!), please return books to school or contact your child’s teacher to arrange drop-off.
